Regulation Cornhole Boards
What is a regulation cornhole board anyway? According to the American Cornhole Association or ACA, there are specifications or standards that should be met for tournament play. Bottom line, it levels the playing field for competitors both amateur and professional alike.

First, let’s talk about size because size matters. You can buy 2’ x 3’ boards that are slightly smaller and often used for recreation. These are great for playing with family or friends in the backyard or tailgating at football games. You can even buy ones that are compact called “mini” for tabletop fun. Both are great for adults as well as children.
But, when it comes to tournament play, the critical dimensions for the tops should be 24” x 48” in size. The hole should be exactly 6” in diameter, 9” from the top and centered on the board. Most important are the rear and front heights. The rear should be 12” off the ground and the front 3 ½” off the ground. These 2 dimensions are frequently overlooked and provide the “grade” or angle necessary for tournament play. These dimensions are often inaccurate when the legs and frames are not properly assembled.
Now, let’s talk about quality. ACA recommends a sturdy and smooth surface. That means a frame braced to minimize “bounce” and

a consistent smooth surface that can only be achieved with a 24” x 48” laminated vinyl “skin” or wrap. In addition, reinforced and collapsable leg assemblies and carrying handles offer that distinct quality that sets you apart from the others.
